Beloved Chicago pastor murdered in West Side home invasion

CHICAGO (WLS) — Pastor Marisol Berrios devoted her life to giving again to others. Her household stated they by no means thought a person who she typically helped can be accused of her homicide.

Berrios traveled the world to volunteer, even reaching again to these in want in Chicago. ABC7 cameras captured her volunteering in 2019 at a Thanksgiving occasion.

Patricia Berrios stated a person her sister typically helped has now been arrested for her homicide.

“Truly, fed him, as effectively. Like, simply gave him meals. However, for him to do what he did has no identify,” she stated.

Chicago police say Marvin Wells broke into the 53-year-old’s West Garfield Park residence close to Adams and Keeler Saturday. There, he allegedly beat her to loss of life. Police arrested him after he crashed a stolen automobile close to Fullerton and Kostner, and had Berrios’ purse in his possession.

Patricia stated their youngest sister was the one who discovered Marisol’s physique.

“Everyone’s heartbroken, however she’s coping with it the worst as a result of she discovered her,” she stated.

The household is shattered, and Berrios’ lifelong work and mission is now incomplete.

“We’d like her right here. We wanted her by us. She’s now not right here anymore due to that trash,” Patricia Berrios stated.

Wells faces a protracted record of fees together with homicide, residence invasion, and armed theft. Berrios’ household has started a GoFundMe to assist pay for her funeral, which can be held this weekend.
