BOC intercepts ₧4.4M price of cigarettes

THE Bureau of Customs-Port of Zamboanga (BOC-POZ) introduced its personnel have intercepted 126 grasp instances of undocumented cigarettes price P4.4 million.

In a press release final Wednesday, the BOC-POZ mentioned that it has performed a seaborne patrol operation in Zamboanga Metropolis and intercepted the watercraft carrying the unlawful items.

The assertion mentioned members of the BOC-POZ Enforcement and Safety Service-Water Patrol Division (ESS-WPD) and the Philippine Nationwide Police intercepted a watercraft carrying the unlawful items throughout a seaborne patrol operation in Barangay Recodo in Zamboanga Metropolis.

The watercraft was manned by 4 crew members, three of who had been from Barangay Kasanyangan and one from Barangay Southcom, all in Zamboanga Metropolis.

Allegedly, the watercraft originated from Jolo, Sulu, and was sure for Zamboanga Metropolis.

Nevertheless, no paperwork had been introduced to show the regularity of prior importation of the smuggled cigarettes and their transport to Zamboanga Metropolis, the BOC mentioned.

“The grasp instances of cigarettes had been seized pursuant to Part 1113 in relation to Part 117 of RA 10863, or the “Customs Modernization and Tariff Act [CMTA] of 2016, and Govt Order [EO] 245 entitled ‘Amended Guidelines and Laws Governing the Exportation and Importation of Leaf Tobacco and Tobacco Merchandise,’” it added.

Moreover, a Warrant of Seizure and Detention will probably be issued in opposition to the cigarettes by the BOC-POZ District Collector Arthur Sevilla Jr.
